Training
To improve development and delivery of EV-based therapeutics to the clinic, it is essential to train Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) who have the knowledge and skills to translate new scientific discoveries and techniques to the clinical setting and pharmaceutical industry. Within the CLEVER network a new generation of ESRs will be trained to make them experts in EVs and their therapeutic application, but also to gain knowledge and practical expertise in the required steps to translate preclinical data into a clinical application and commercialization.
In the field of cell-based therapies there is a discrepancy between the academic training and the needs of the corresponding non-academic and private sector with respect to knowledge, expertise and skills of employees. The non-academic sector needs smart and creative researchers with a commercial or entrepreneurial mindset, who are aware of the hurdles and pitfalls of therapy development and commercialization. Although well-trained in science, current graduates generally lack knowledge about the process of translating cell-based research into clinical and commercial applications for patients.
